Maria Ruiz

Maria is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

After graduation, Maria launched her career at IVP/Redpoint Ventures in Menlo Park where she worked as an accountant. As an accountant, Maria learned the entire venture capital accounting cycle, from fund raising to dissolving a partnership.   While at IVP/Redpoint, Maria continued to advance her accounting and problem solving skills while consistently meeting deadlines.

In 2002, Maria accepted a Controller position with Bay Partners, a venture capital firm with over $1 billion in assets under management. As Controller, Maria was able to manage all aspects of accounting activities for multiple entities. Maria’s key achievement as Controller was to implement the posting of financial statements to the website, which allowed LPs timely access to information. In 2006, Maria was promoted to Acting CFO.

In 2007, Maria was promoted to CFO of Bay Partners. As CFO, Maria established and monitored guidelines and procedures in response to new regulations. Maria was responsible for the overall management of the finance department and human resources. She worked closely with the managing directors, limited partners and portfolio company management.

Three years ago, Maria founded Paragon Accounting with Antoinette Delhonte. At Paragon, Antoinette and Maria strive to provide customized CFO services to Venture Capital Firms in all stages of growth and development.  Their goal is to combine their many years of accounting experience to offer a tailored CFO service to a select group of Venture Capital firms.
